Hi all,
I was wondering, how liberal are people nowadays on Cayman Islands? I read that in the past the public display of affection was not accepted and that especially gay tourists had problems traveling there. Is this still an issue or are the young Caymanians becoming more liberal?

Hi Ulrik,
I live in Grand Cayman and you are partially right. Young Caymanians are quite liberal but Cayman society is not. I guess is a Caribbean thing. Three years ago there was a huge debate in Cayman about letting a gay cruise ship come to the Island. Lots of people were against some politicians and churches and there were public demonstrations in the street. They finally let the ship come in and nothing happened. Cayman is a very beautiful place but if a policeman sees you kissing your gay partner in the street, you will be told off.
