Quiet, lovely places in Bulgaria?

发表在 保加利亚论坛

Hello all, I am a technical writer from the US. I am traveling to Bulgaria for vacation for 2-3 months in August. Does anyone know a quiet, lovely town/village that is easy and affordable to stay at for about a month? I plan on writing and would like a thought-provoking area outside of a tourist destination. I'd like to find a place with history and scenes for hiking/cycling breaks.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to get away from the crowds and commercialism, I would recommend staying in a Rural Village or Small Town in Bulgaria. We have places you can Rent. http://www.bulgarianbritishpartnership.co.uk

Or, if you are into the beach, we live in a tiny neighborhood that is just south of varna... While varna is a large city, Galata has several small hotels and feels very small. There is one hotel in a cave by the lighthouse that you have to walk about half a km down a Stine path to get to... Which I also think would be great for writing.

I've been living here for four years. If I had a free month to write I would definitely go to hissar, close to Plovdiv. On summer nights, with the fireflies in the ancient fortress it is magical, but still not too touristy. There are plenty of day trips and you can get up into stars planina or the rhadopi for a weekend. Also, the guy who owns the stables there is rather nice, if you ride.

Alternatively, shipka is gorgeous and has more hiking/biking opportunities, as well as an English family. Again, plenty to see but not overly touristy.

    Hi Greg,
the place to be for you in summer could be the area of the Rila monastry and his 7 laks ( whose shape sky view represents the seven vital organs). Check on the net, it's a kind of magic !!!
    Bests regards
