Oh nice, you saw Felipe. :) It's really so weird that he was kinda banned from this forum. I hope he can join us again.

Anyway, you are very much welcome. Don't be too nervous just 'cause of the stories you heard from other applicants. As what they always say at the embassy, it's a case to case basis. Your situation might be different from the others thus the outcome might also be different. ;)

I hope you hear the good news in the near future.

    Veel success! :)

    Hi Rizsha,

Welcome to the forum! :) If you read the first page of this topic (timeline for fiancee visa), you would've seen this link:

    http://onedayatatimewithwowie.blogspot.com/2011/05/visit-vis
    a-processingtobelgium.html

It's a link to a blog post by my good friend, ZD Pardo. It tells you all you need to know regarding visit a friend visa application. ;)

Regarding your question, you don't have to worry. They will ask you that question again during your brief interview (when you submit the requirements). And then you can say it's for a "visit a friend". Besides, you're also gonna fill up a form and you also have to indicate that information on the said form. So forget about what you said on the phone. ;) By the way, I would suggest that you already fill up the form prior to going to the embassy ('cause normally, you can get the form naman from the security guard and fill it up at the embassy). Here's the link to the visa application form:

So when you arrive at the embassy, all you gotta do is relax, sit back and wait for your name to be called. ;)

Good luck on your application. :)

Yes we can totally understand the anxiety..and the restlessness..and the sleeplessness (sometimes) for thinking and thinking and more thinking...as I have posted in my blog before, the waiting part is the most grueling part...but if you did your assignment -- you've come prepared to the embassy, have answered the interview well and good, have given them the requirements they've asked from you -- then you don't have to worry about not getting the visa...just enjoy the time that you have with your friends and family in beloved pinas (while waiting for your visa) for the moment and before you knew it, your "akkoord" is in the website, your visa is stamped, and your flying to BE! :D

Good luck on your application..will be praying for you both..

Thank you for the kind words, Angela. :) Felipe (I think) is still in Philippines and the last time I heard from him, he said he was gonna re-apply for a visit visa. But I have no idea how his re-application went. It's good to know that everything went well with you at the embassy. I really wish you get a positive result. We'll be waiting for an update. ;)

    Hello Liam,

Don't fret. 5 weeks (processing time at the embassy in Manila) is quite normal for a family reunification visa. As what is stated in the website, the average processing time (at the embassy in Manila) is 6 weeks. So try to relax and not worry too much. Although I know that is easier said than done. Hehehe! It is true that doing follow ups can be difficult. Calling the embassy normally doesn't help because they give you the same information you can find from this website:

    https://dofi.ibz.be/

I suppose you can wait for 2 more weeks and if your papers are still in Manila, then perhaps it is ok to call the embassy just to be sure that they have all the necessary documents from you. As they always say, "patience is a virtue."

Please pardon us for not being able to give you guys a fast reply because the 3 of us are all busy now with school (learning Dutch). Veel success to both of you. ;)

    Hi Liam,

Welcome to our forum. We are sorry that this forum is not much of a help for those who would like to apply for a family reunification visa (as the title of the forum says so). But I'm glad to know that this forum was able to drive positivity within you.

I am not sure which documents you mean exactly but for sure they should've asked for the most important ones such as birth certificate and the like. And upon reviewing the information on their website, a visa fee is indeed not necessary for this type of application so no need to worry about that.

If and only if (knock on wood, God forbid) you didn't get a positive result, there's no need to feel devastated because you can always re-apply for it. Just make sure to carefully read and understand the reasons for the disapproval of your visa (they will provide you a paper stating the said reasons) and accomplish the criteria you were not able to meet on your next application.

Of course I do hope that you get a positive result. ;) You may check the status of your visa application through this website:

    https://infovisa.ibz.be/InfovisaFr.aspx

Don't be surprised/worried if you get "No Result". Normally, it takes 2 -3 weeks (or even longer) before your data is on that website.

Good luck on your application, Liam. I wish you the best.

    xoxo
